ENERGY EFFICIENCY: DEVELOPING AN INTEGRATED ENERGY EFFICIENCY STRATEGY IN YOUR URBAN COMMUNITY

Growing populations and new housing stock increases energy demands of buildings and cooling requires a large energy load. Energy-efficient urban planning offers opportunities to enhance the quality of life by designing a healthy and comfortable built environment with minimum energy consumption, but it is essential this is considered in the early stages of design. Planning communities is a long and complicated process involving many stakeholders. This panel discussion discusses the decisions that need to be considered in the planning stage that influence the final energy consumption of buildings, their cooling, heating and lighting loads.
